What could cause a difficulty in getting an erection during sex?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a male of twenty-one years. My problem is that I cannot get an erection during sex, but I get a full erection while masturbating. I am still a virgin and have been masturbating for years. For the second time with my girlfriend, I cannot get it hard enough to stick it in her. Do I suffer from something? I do not smoke or drink and do not suffer from anything, and I regularly go to the gym.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Erectile dysfunction usually occurs at the age of 40 to 50 years.

In young males, erectile dysfunction is usually due to physical inactivity, hyperlipidemia, alcohol, smoking, too much stress, anxiety, antidepressants or any other medication, diabetes, hypertension, or a venous leak.

There are two main types of erectile dysfunction. One is Psychogenic due to a sedentary lifestyle, unhealthy food, stress, anxiety, mental disturbance, porn movies, etc. The other type is organic in which there is an underlying disease.

Treatment involves behavioral changes, lifestyle changes, and certain medications. Even surgical options can be used if all other options fail.

You need to quit porn movies.

Thank you for consulting me.

You can always come back and reach me at icliniq.com.
