Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been experiencing difficulty maintaining an erection during sexual activity for the past year. While there are occasions when everything goes smoothly, most of the time, I struggle due to performance anxiety.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Based on your description, you may be experiencing erectile dysfunction (ED). Possible reasons for erectile dysfunction (ED) include:

  1. Stress related to work, family, or night duties: Consider incorporating regular exercise and yoga into your routine.

  2. Depression.

  3. Varicocele: Diagnosis may involve an ultrasound of the scrotum.

  4. Fear of failure: Experiencing one episode of ED can sometimes lead to anxiety about future occurrences.

  5. Low self-esteem (potentially linked to chronic masturbation).

  6. Homosexuality: Not being attracted to the same sex.

  7. Religious constraints.

  8. Smoking and alcohol consumption.

  9. Long-term illnesses such as cardiac disease, thyroid disease, kidney disease, or other conditions requiring prolonged medication.

  10. Simple vitamin deficiency: Consider using Zincovit (multivitamin) and Shelcal (calcium supplement) tablets.

  11. Negative attitude towards your partner.

  12. Hormonal issues: Thyroid problems, low testosterone, or increased prolactin levels.

  13. Long-term drug usage.

  14. Diabetes and hypertension.

It is advisable to undergo Doppler penis, USG (ultrasonography)pelvis and scrotum, blood pressure monitoring, RBS (random blood sugar), Free T3 T4, testosterone, and TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) tests.

For treatment, regular exercise and a balanced diet are recommended. Basic exercises like Kegels, squats, yoga, running, or brisk walking can be beneficial. Additionally, incorporating exercises such as planks, push-ups, mountain climbers, glute bridges, bicep curls, pull-ups, and jump squats can help.

In terms of dietary recommendations, include foods like strawberries, apples, avocados, sweet potatoes, sesame seeds, almonds, garlic, and small amounts of chocolate.

For a temporary solution, you can consider using Tab Maildfil(Tadalafil ) 5mg twice a day. However, it is essential to consult with a healthcare professional for a thorough diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan.

I hope these suggestions help.

Thank you.
