Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am prone to ear infections. The mild respiratory symptoms have subsided. I am experiencing ear pain, crackling, and muffled hearing for the last seven days. Antibiotics have worked for me in the past. I am traveling out of state for work via plane tomorrow and would not be able to see my provider until next week. Currently, I am taking Tylenol.
Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Your first query consult is on us!
Based on the history provided it is likely that you may have a middle ear infection. This is common in people with recurrent upper respiratory infections, swimmers, someone with perforated ear drums (in your case could be unlikely), etc. Considering you do not have time to see your doctor you may take some over-the-counter painkillers or Tylenol as and when required. I am not sure if you are diabetic. If so, more caution is required. When traveling in flight sip water or juice or use chewing gum or a candy while taking off and landing as cabin pressure change can cause ear pain. Avoid getting into the swimming pool and avoid water seeping into your ears while taking a shower. Once back see your doctor to check the inside of the ear examined under an otoscope.
I hope your query got resolved.
Please feel free to reach me again, in case of further queries.
Thank you.
