This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 30 year old female. I am writing to seek guidance regarding an issue I have been experiencing, which is dry eyes.

1. Can you explain what dry eyes are and what causes them?

2. What are the typical symptoms associated with dry eyes?

3. Are there specific signs that I should be aware of as potential indicators of this condition?

4. Are there any risk factors or lifestyle habits that can make an individual more susceptible to developing dry eyes?

5. What are the potential complications or consequences of untreated dry eyes, and can this condition worsen over time?

6. What are some self-care strategies and lifestyle adjustments that I can implement to alleviate the discomfort of dry eyes?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Dry eyes are multifactorial in nature. Computer vision syndrome is a most common occurrence, which can be reduced by reducing screen time and using the 20-20-20 rule while working on screens. Using lubricant eyedrops frequently. Blue light filters and anti-reflective glasses usage will help. Taking a high antioxidant-rich diet will be helpful. Check for any refractive errors and use glasses accordingly. Checking any disease of the eyes and adnexa will help as well.

Hope it is of help to you.

Take care.
