Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I think my IUD is out of place. I am having extremely heavy and elongated discharge, which I thought might have started off as a period, but I do not know what it is now. I have an abnormal smell, constant discharge, and pain from the area where the IUD was placed, all through my right leg.
Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I thoroughly read your query and understand your concern.
If you suspect that your IUD (intrauterine contraceptive device) is out of place. It is important to seek medical attention promptly. An IUD that has moved or become dislodged can cause serious complications, such as pelvic infection, perforation of the uterus, or pregnancy if the device is no longer effective.
The symptoms you described, including heavy bleeding, abnormal-smelling discharge, and pain, could be indicative of an infection or other issues related to the IUD. The pain in your leg could also be a sign of a serious complication, such as a blood clot. I would suggest that you go for an ultrasound. In some cases, the IUD may need to be removed and replaced.
Hope this has answered your query.
