How to treat a dislocated mandibular jaw?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have noticed my jaw (mandible) has gone backward in the last few months, I had a fine jaw all over my life and coincidentally I have been mouth breathing for the last seven to eight months.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. It does not happen naturally or on its own if you remember any injury or any teeth extraction that might have caused teeth movement. In fact, more than the mandible going backward there are chances that you might have developed protruded maxilla because of some reasons. Maxillary wisdom teeth might be adjusting themselves or maybe some habit of yours causing a protrusion in the upper jaw. I would suggest you get an appointment with an orthodontist as soon as possible if you want to resolve the issue in its initial stage only. I hope my answer was helpful to you. Thank you.
