Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My baby is 8 days old and he has loose motion. I gave him Enfamil formula but after the feed, the motion per day was 6 to 7 times. I am really worried about him.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Bowel habits of infants are as different as the infants themselves. Some babies go several times a day, while others go every few days or even less frequently. Also, breastfed babies usually poop more frequently than those who are formula fed. Finally, a baby’s stooling habits will change as their digestive system matures and their diet changes. Nothing to worry but if you observe sudden change, that is, he poops more than usual and passes looser, more watery stools than usual, then it is probably diarrhea. Please consult your pediatrician. Take care.
