Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My mother is 70 years old. She has been suffering from loose motion for the last two months. She is going the toilet 9 to 11 times a day. Most of the time, her stool is watery. From 2 AM, she starts going toilet 6 to 7 times till 10 AM, and then from 2 PM to 6 PM, she goes toilet five times. The quantity of stool is sometimes less and sometimes more. She feels colitis pain always, and after food, it is too much. Her stool report is fine. During the toilet, too much gas passes. She has taken Bifilac, Loperamide, and Zenflux-OZ for five days and again the same for five days. She has been taking the injection of Zone 1 mg for five days twice a day and Amikacin 500 for three days twice a day, ENzorForte, and Zinkovit. But no improvement has been marked till now. She has taken ORS daily. She does not take outside food. She has high BP, and before four years, she had witnessed a brain stroke. She is taking BP medicines daily. She always feels thirsty. Kindly suggest the best remedy for her recovery.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Dear, she may be suffering from chronic diarrhea, which may be due to the following:

1. Chronic infection (bacillary or amebic dysentery).

2. Lactose intolerance.

3. Ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease.

4. Gluten sensitivity.

5. Malabsorption syndromes.

6. Fungal overgrowth.

7. Leaky gut syndrome etc.

So along with the above drugs, I suggest these tablets. Rifaximin 200 mg three times a day for five days. Avoid milk-related products. Thirst may be due to dehydration. So give ORS (oral rehydration salts) solution orally. If symptoms have not improved, please get a colonoscopy and stool culture and sensitivity. Take care.
