Are my frequent allergies related to the ringworm treatment I had some time back?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Some time back, I had a ringworm infection for which my doctor suggested taking tablet Flagyl and tablet Histantin for a month. The infection subsided after using the medicines. However, nowadays, I suffer from frequent allergies.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

You seem to have acute urticaria. The causes of acute urticaria are infections (bacterial, viral, fungal, or parasitic), drugs (painkillers or antibiotics), or certain foods, additives, or preservatives.

The cause must be ruled out for a permanent cure. Meanwhile, you can take a combination of tablet Levocetirizine and Montelukast once daily for a month and deworming medicine tablet Albendazole 400 mg single dose (to be taken only once). Also, you can apply a soothing lotion like Calamine twice daily for five to seven days. (Consult a specialist doctor, talk to him or her, and start the medications with their consent).

I hope this helps.

Take care.
