Can Prestiq and Amitriptyline be taken to control anxiety?

Hello doctor,

I have had severe anxiety, depression, rapid heartbeat, excessive sweating, diarrhea, and nervous breakdown for the past many years. I have tried Amitriptyline but it causes excessive sedation. Please suggest whether I should take Prestiq and Amitriptyline at the night to control my depression, anxiety, and diarrhea problem.

Please help.

I suggest you take only one tablet of Nexito (Escitalopram) 10 milligrams. You can also take a tablet of Amitriptyline (tricyclic antidepressant) 10 milligrams and a tablet of Nexito 10 milligrams daily. Do not take Clonazepam (benzodiazepine) with it.

I also suggest you do the following tests.

1. CBC (complete blood count).

2. Thyroid profile.

3. Vitamin B12.

4. Vitamin D3.

You can take both medications together but there may be side effects that may cause problems. Both medications have side effects related to cardiac, so you need to keep monitoring your blood pressure and ECG (electrocardiogram).
