Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been prescribed Naproxen 550 mg for an infected tooth that has caused an infection in my gum. The prescription indicates that it is time-released and should be taken every 12 hours. I took the first dose in the evening, but the pain has resurfaced severely.
I want to ask the following questions:
Can I take another dose in eight hours instead of 12?
If not, what is the safest interval to wait before taking another dose?
I am in significant pain and seeking relief. For this dental issue, my history of medication includes pain relievers and Amoxicillin or Penicillin. Currently, I am taking only Naproxen and Amoxicillin as prescribed.
Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query.
Well, the prescribed medication can be taken three times a day as it is safe to have it. Still to reduce pain try the following home remedies if possible :
1. Crush the garlic clove with black salt and apply it directly on the affected tooth.
2. Rinse mouth with salt water and turmeric mixture twice a day.
3. Use clove oil if possible, and apply it to the tooth.
You can try any of the above-mentioned remedies. I wish you good health and happiness. Please keep me updated with any improvements.
I hope my advice will be helpful.
Feel free to reach out if you have any further queries.
Thank you.
