Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I would like to know if I have any cavities, an abscess, or any other dental problems according to the attached dental X-ray. My dentist said there is an abscess under the crown on the lower right side. I want to check on that.
Please suggest.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I went through your query and understood your concern.
I went through your report (the attachment removed to protect the patient's identity).
Yes, there is an abscess at the root apex of your root canal-treated tooth. There is either root canal failure or some dental infection that has relapsed. In either case, you need a re-RCT (root canal treatment) or extraction if you do not want to repeat RCT.
I suggest you get scaling done every six months and maintain further oral hygiene protocols at home. Brush twice daily and rinse your mouth properly after every meal.
I hope it helps you.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for replying.
This X-ray was taken five months ago. Does that mean the abscess could have gotten worse? I do not want to lose my tooth. What to do?
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I suggest you visit a dentist for confirmation.
Hope it helps.
Thank you.
