Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
ELISA test positive for dengue but no fever and 6 years old. Fever occurred five days back but spikes have reduced now. Please help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Dengue is positive in this patient as ELISA for dengue is positive. In dengue, fever subsides by 5 to 6 days. In this period, you have to keep a watch on whether any swelling appears in the body, a petechial rash appears on the body, and also to watch for platelet count. If platelet count is falling, or swelling increases then we have to admit the child. Most cases of dengue do not require admission and require monitoring of hydration status and platelet monitoring. So, I suggest you give an adequate amount of liquid diet to the patient and repeat the platelet every alternate day for one week.
