Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 22-year-old female. My query is about my late period. Ever since I started my period I always had it monthly and regularly, but recently for the past month and this month, I have been getting my periods a little bit late than usual which is very weird for me. I would like to ask about the causes of my late periods. Also, I recently gained weight, and I have been also really stressed out lately. Can these be the cause of my late periods?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Sometimes periods might fluctuate and it is normal. Also these days PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) is very common, especially in the young population. Irregular periods, scanty menses, acne, and excessive weight gain these things are commonly seen in PCOS. These might also be seen in thyroid disorders. So I would suggest you do an ultrasound pelvis scan and thyroid profile to rule out these. Accordingly if needed we can start the proper treatment.
Hope this information helps you.
Thanks and take care.
