Hello doctor,

I have had dark underarms for a long time. I have tried every possible home remedy, but nothing has worked. I have used Retin-A cream in the past and tried skin peels, but my skin becomes red. I also have very sweaty underarms. Please suggest any treatment and aftercare. There are no hormonal issues.

I have reviewed clinical photographs attached (attachment removed to protect the patient’s identity), it is acanthosis nigricans. Stop application of Tretinoin cream, it can lead to irritation in the intertriginous area.

You may consider the application of skin brightening cream with Kojic acid one daily but only in the armpit and not in the groin area. Consider weight reduction. It takes time for this pigmentation to subside.
