Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I need serious help with my dark marks. I drink water, eat well, and use plant-based products. I am interested in chemical peels, but I want to explore other options. Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Acne is a chronic problem. It has a variable course with medication. It requires regular follow-up and long treatment. It usually occurs up to 25 to 28 years, maybe more than this. Once the acne lesions heal, they leave acne scars, but these acne scars heal with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) for a short duration in light-skinned individuals. But in darker individuals, these PIH persist for longer, maybe two to three weeks. But this duration can be curtailed by using depigmenting cream, sunscreen, and sun protection.

For treatment, I suggest you use the following

  1. Depiwhite cream (Aqua, Vitis Vinifera seed Oil, Glycerin, Glyceryl stearate, Butylene Glycol, PEG-100 stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Coco-Glucoside, Petrolatum, Hydroquinone, Kojic Acid, Cyclomethicone, Stearyl alcohol, Hydroxyethyl acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl taurate Copolymer and Squalane and Polysorbate-60, Dimethicone, Aluminium Silicate, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Ascorbyl Methylsilanol Pectinate, Lactic Acid, Disodium Edta, Sodium Sulfate, Sodium Metabisulfite) or Adapalene gel 0.1 percent cream (Adapalene 0.1 % w/w) during the night daily.

  2. Non-comedogenic sunscreens with SPF 50+ during morning hours all over the face after a bath. Repeat once after four hours.

  3. You must follow certain dietary restrictions like avoiding oily, spicy, junk food, milk products, and non-veg food.

  4. Drink adequate water to hydrate your skin.

  5. Use good quality face wash for cleaning your face twice daily.

  6. Avoid using hair oil, as it aggravates forehead acne.

I hope this helps.
