Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a renal transplant patient taking Neoral 75 mg, Mycophenolate Mofetil 500 mg, and Prednisone 5 mg and would like to begin taking AST-120 to diminish the chronic decline of renal function typical in transplant patients. I was wondering how this is approached here, where I assume AST-120 is frequently used. Can you just mix Neoral with olive oil or do you have to switch patients to Sandimmune in order to avoid interference with cyclosporine dosing?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query.
I have reviewed your query. First of all, you need to understand that charcoal treatment mixed with anything is a part of the experimental phase and is not recommended by FDA (food and drug administration of america) to be used in humans. No one uses it here as per your query. Anything that is being researched is done on animals and if found useful is used in humans in 4 phase trials. If successful is approved by FDA.
I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
