I need my unfit crowns replaced. How much will it cost?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

How much is the average cost of replacing the existing 27 crowns because they have improper margins and are not seated properly?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have reviewed your complaint and understand your problem.

The cost of the crown depends on the type of crown you want.

For replacing the crown, you have to pay the same amount as you paid before. If your crown is under some warranty, then only the cost will be less, or it might be free. I want to tell you that, as it is a molar tooth, the most important thing that has to be considered is the strength of the cap, as molars have to take all the forces of chewing.

You can go for porcelain fused to metal (metal ceramic crown), in which there is a thin layer of metal inside and a layer of tooth-colored ceramic or porcelain outside, so that it gives a look of a natural tooth and also has strength due to the metal inside.

There is another option, which is an all-ceramic crown that contains only ceramic and no metal, and has a better appearance due to no metal and good strength too.

But if you ask me, my suggestion is that you go for the metal-ceramic type of crown. It is less expensive than all-ceramic caps, has high strength, and can withstand heavy chewing forces.

Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.

Hope this information helps.

Kind regards.
