I have some yellow substance in my nose with cough. What to do?

I have undergone surgery on the nose before seven years. I had bleeding from the nose and so the surgery was done. Now, I am suffering from a cold for two months and a yellow color substance is present inside my nose. It looks like mucus and sometimes I have water coming out from my nose. Kindly suggest.

It is not present as a discharge but it is present inside my nose. While sneezing, I can see only a white color liquid. I do not know about the yellow color substance present inside my nose. I am not able to breathe properly because of it. I had a headache along with it. Please help me to get rid of the yellow substance present in my nose.

I have followed the medication suggested by you. I got relief from headache and water discharge from the nose. But I can see the yellow color layer which looks like a swollen one. My previous surgery was related to polyps present in one of my nostrils. Please mention whether these two are related. I do not have bleeding from the nose. I feel the yellow color substance present in my nose. Kindly suggest.
