How to treat cough, metallic taste, and ear ache?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had a cough for the last six days and today. I am experiencing a weird taste in my mouth from the mucus. It could be a metallic taste. I have experienced hearing loss in my right ear with some pain. I can hear, but not that well. Everything is muffled. I am very congested, but I do not have a headache.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for writing and I understand your concern.

Actually, cough and such taste is associated with respiratory tract infection. It is usually caused by bacterial or viral infections. So do not worry you will be fine. I would suggest you take a tablet of Montair LCz (5 mg of Levocetirizine and 10 mg of Montelukast) once before sleeping, syrup Bromhexine 5 ml (Bromhexine 4 mg) three times a day, and a tablet of Paracetamol 500 mg twice a day after a meal. Take these medicines for five days. Avoid cold drinks. Drink lukewarm water only. Do you have a fever? Are you allergic to any antibiotics? Please let me know, so that I can prescribe you antibiotics accordingly.

Thank you
