How to treat blurred and double vision with headaches after an eye scratch?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My daughter scratched my eye pretty deeply three weeks ago. I had a few appointments, and they told me it was healing nicely and that only a tiny scratch was left. It has been two weeks since then, and my vision is still very blurry.

I have slight double vision. Still have light sensitivity and can not drive at all at night. My eyes feel irritated constantly, and I have been getting headaches daily.

What do I need to do?

I am currently taking birth control pills.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Your symptoms are suggestive of epithelial erosion.

  1. I suggest cold compresses.
  2. Use a lubricating eyedrop frequently, such as Carboxymethylcellulose.
  3. Soft steroids like Fluorometholone can be used in case of inflammation in the eye.

It is a provisional diagnosis. Kindly share images of your eye so that I may guide you better.

Kind regards.

Thank you.
