How to control diabetes and manage diabetic foot?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My father is a 52-year-old diabetic patient. He has had diabetes for the past five years. The values were around 340 mg/dL when we did the sugar test, and his BP was 140 mg/dL. He has also got an infection in his leg, due to which he has been feeling weak for the last two weeks. He is currently taking Ocamet 500 for sugar and Almokind AT for BP. Can you please suggest supplements or medicines to reduce his sugar levels?

Answered by Dr. Rajesh Jain

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. Please give your father the following. For diabetes, stop tablet Okamet 500 and give Tablet Reclimet (Gliclazide and Metformin) twice a day, Capsule Amree plus twice a day. For infection of the leg, Clean it with hydrogen peroxide. Apply ointment Betadine locally. Give tablet Tibrolin twice a day. Take Tablet Ceroxim 500 mg twice a day for seven days.

Consult your specialist doctor, talk to them, and then take the medications as per their advice.

Follow up after five days.
