Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I did not pass enough gas yesterday but did three times today. I did not experience any discomfort. I only had minimal bleeding. It started a few days back when my stomach was still full. A motion also came the next day, but I had to force it a lot since it was so tight. Sometimes it loosens up, but today it came loose once in the morning. A motion also came three times, but after that, I felt like my stomach was complete, and the gas was not coming. Will a doctor perform any tests if I go? The situation could be more serious, right? I am a teenager. Thus I find it challenging. Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Possibility 1
The symptoms you explain are likely due to overlapping problems like constipation, poor food habits, GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), etc. Your diet pattern is adding to your problem. As per the text, chronic constipation frequently causes abdominal pain. While the pain from constipation can occur anywhere in the abdomen, the most common location is the left quadrant. More severe causes of pain in the left abdomen may lead to constipation. Still, additional symptoms like nausea will almost always accompany these causes.
Possibility 2
Diverticulosis is the condition of having diverticula in the colon that are not inflamed. These are out of pockets of the colonic mucosa and submucosa through weaknesses of muscle layers in the colon wall. Diverticula are present in the left side of the abdomen.
Possibility 3
Left-sided abdominal pain associated with posture can be muscular in origin. As we grow old, our muscle loses their original strength. Hence lying on a particular side can cause pain.
Possibility 4
You have excess fats in your meals even though you have gallbladder attacks. All the above three possibilities, along with this one, can contribute to your problem.
As per your query regarding a tumor or hernia, the easy way out is to go for an ultrasonogram of the abdomen; things will be precise in 10 minutes. Based on history, even without physically examining you, it is not easy to make a direct comment on your diagnosis. Firstly, go for a few baseline gastroenterology tests like an ultrasound abdomen, X-ray abdomen, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) abdomen. Follow up with reports.
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards.
