Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Passing fart up to 10 times a day is normal. However, constipation, gastrointestinal infection, irritable bowel syndrome may worsen this. For you, I suggest you take a good amount of water and dietary fibers. Hopefully, that should improve your symptoms. If you are having constipation, treating it may improve your problem.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I do not have any constipation problem. I am drinking water 3 liters a day. I am keeping a 1-liter bottle on my working table and filling it two times a day. Other one liter is with lunch, dinner, breakfast, and snacks. I am eating sprouts three times a week in the morning breakfast time and wheat roti or chapati in all lunch and dinner. Do I need to add more water for a day? Do I need to add more fiber content in all meal? What is a gastrointestinal infection, irritable bowel syndrome? What are the symptoms of these two?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, water content can be increased further up to 4 liters and increased fiber will also help. Besides, gastrointestinal infection and IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) are not likely in your case as they present with altered bowel habits viz. diarrhea in infection and alternating constipation and diarrhea in IBS.
