Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am six weeks pregnant and suffering from severe constipation which is the main cause of heartburn and acidity. Can I take any stool softener?

Answered by Dr. Uzma Arqam

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

  1. It is better to take a nice soft healthy, nutritious food with lots of vegetables and fruits and plenty of water.
  2. A daily walk, mild exercise or yoga.
  3. Can have mint leaves, water to reduce constipation effects.
  4. For acidity better to have cold milk at bedtime and just after sleep. Stool softener all not very reliable and differ in side effect from person to person.
  5. These all symptoms are pregnancy early symptoms and better to relief by healthy precautions rather than medications.
  6. You can have honey in hot water that also reduces constipation. Juicy fruits and vegetables best to relieve constipation.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
