What is a 21-month-old toddler's genital scratch treatment?"

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My 21 months old daughter has scratched herself near her clitoris and I was wondering what is the best action to take or remedy is. Please advice.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The best thing to do would be to clean the scratch with lukewarm water, dry it, and then apply ointment Soframycin (Framycetin) locally over the scratch. This application to be repeated thrice a day, and it should heal in the next 48 hours. Also, it is important that she does not scratch again over it, and hence a befitting diaper or small lower can be worn.

I hope this information helps you.

Feel free to ask further queries.

Thank you.
