Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been diagnosed with pansinusitis. I have completed one course of antibiotics, but the headache persists. Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query. I understand your concern. Antibiotics help with acute sinusitis only. Chronic sinusitis is treated with anti-inflammatory nasal sprays and antihistaminic medicines. Clinical symptoms, radiology, or nasal endoscopy findings can help to diagnose chronic sinusitis. Headaches are not specific to chronic sinusitis and can occur due to tension, cluster headaches, or migraine. If it is pansinusitis, I suggest you take Mometasone (corticosteroid) nasal spray and Montelukast - Levocetirizine combination tablets (antiallergic medications). Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them and take medications with their consent. Do you have any other symptoms such as nose block, running nose, itching, watering of eyes, pressure in the ears, facial pressure, nasal congestion, reduced sense of smell, discharge from the nose, post-nasal discharge, or any sensitivity to any drugs like aspirin? I suggest you to follow up with the details mentioned below for a complete assessment: 1. The duration, frequency, severity, aggravating, and relieving factors of any other symptoms present. 2. The medicines and antibiotics you have had till now. 3. Any specific precautions followed. 4. Do you have a habit of smoking or drinking alcohol? 5. Exposure to dust or smoke, or pollution at the workplace. 6. Blood tests or CT (computerized tomography) scan reports. I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
