Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Last month, I noticed bruising on my arms and scheduled a blood test, which showed that my platelet count was low at 79,000 per microliter of blood. Since then, I have had weekly tests, but my platelet count continues to remain low, averaging between 90,000 and 110,000. In 2018 and 2022, I had similar lab results, and I was told that this was considered normal for me. However, I would like to reconfirm this. Earlier today, I had another blood test, and my platelet count was 90,000, with a Mean platelet volume (MPV) of 12.80 femtoliters.
Please help
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
I am very sorry to hear about your medical condition, and I am glad that you are paying attention to changes in your body. Please know that I am here to help and support you. Based on your symptoms, I strongly believe that you may have developed petechial hemorrhages due to low platelet levels, a condition known as idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). May I ask if you are currently taking any medications? I recommend undergoing a bone marrow biopsy to help further evaluate your condition and provide more detailed information. Additionally, it may be necessary to visit the emergency room (ER) for a platelet transfusion to restore your platelet count to a safe level. If you have any further concerns or questions, please feel free to schedule a direct appointment or follow up with me via chat, phone, or video consultation.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you
