What are the treatment methods available for chronic prostatitis?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I was recently tested for chlamydia and had a reading of IgM - 0.9 and IgG - 1.3. I was prescribed tablet Levofloxacin treatment once daily for 14 days. Will this cure the chlamydia infection and make it negative?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Yes, tablet Levofloxacin is used to treat chlamydia and gonococcal infections. A course for seven days should be fine. You can repeat the test after a week. Please share the result with me.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

My readings say that I should wait 90 days after the treatment to repeat the test. Is this correct? Also my local doctor has diagnosed chronic prostatitis. Will I be able to recover after extensive treatment and lead a normal life? What are the side effects of Levofloxacin?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Actually after treatment I do not repeat the test for my patient unless there are symptoms. So you can wait for a month.
