Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am experiencing right side chest pain for the past four weeks. The pain originates just below the right-hand side rib cage. The pain never occurs on both the areas simultaneously (right side below the last rib and the other area right upper chest). Pain, heaviness, burning sensation moves from one area to the other area (as mentioned above). USG upper abdomen reports say hyperechoic area 4.7 mm is seen in the right lobe of liver suggestive of calcified hepatic granuloma. Blood test, urine test, PFT test reports are normal. The same pain I had experienced two years back. Earlier reports also uploaded. It lasted for about 1 to 2 months. But this time the intensity of pain is more (just below the right rib).
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
From your clinical history and attached report, there is no obvious cause of your severe pain. Calcified granulomas usually do not cause pain. Although looking at your old CT (computed tomography) chest and current USG (ultrasonogram) (attachment removed to protect patient identity), I would want to investigate more for tuberculosis (as a separate issue, not as a current cause of pain). Coming back to pain, it sounds like it may be musculoskeletal in origin or acid peptic disease. Particularly if the pain is more on moving, it may point towards musculoskeletal in origin. I would also suggest an EKG (echocardiogram) to be sure we are not missing anything cardiac. With discussion with your doctors, you can discuss regarding acid suppression therapy along with some muscle relaxant for few days if it helps.
