What could be the reason for chest pain and heavy breathing?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My mother is 45 years old. I do not know much about her health but she has asthma and some heart problems. She had an operation a few years ago involving the heart, she said they put a device in it. After a few years, they said she had a problem with her heart valves and that she might need to replace them. A few days ago she said she felt pain in her chest near the heart and that her eyes were closing and she was heavily breathing, but it stopped and she is fine now. Should I be concerned? She is stressing a lot and also taking some pills for preventing clotting. Should I be concerned because of recent events? Thank you.
