Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My father is 45 years old. A vein is blocked near his heart. The doctor said that he checked up today and there is pain in the chest when he walks far. What should be done?
Please suggest.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
A blocked artery in the heart causes pain, especially during activities like walking, due to increased heart rate, which reduces blood supply to the heart muscles, leading to ischemia and pain. This condition is called angina pectoris. It is a problem with the coronary arteries that supply the heart muscle.
The doctor you need to see is the cardiologist. I suggest you do an ECG (electrocardiogram) and check for the clotting time. Take Isosorbide Dinitrate 5 mg three times daily to help open the heart arteries and relieve the pain.
I hope this helps.
Thank you and take care.
