How to overcome chest discomfort?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am experiencing a feeling of discomfort in my left side chest which becomes painful when I try to pass motion. I fear it is something serious.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern but this appears to be gastritis and reflux disease. Do you suffer from upper abdominal pain, nausea, bloating, or burping? Does your pain increase on having food? Do you have sour water feeling in the throat, or chest burning?

The likelihood of heart disease is less because of your age and absence of risk factors. Still, I suggest you get one ECG (electrocardiogram) done to be sure and you can upload it here or get it reported by a local doctor. I also suggest you take some measures such as:

1 Avoid fatty, oily, and spicy diets. Eat lots of green leafy vegetables, fruits.

2 Have a walk after having food instead of taking a rest.

3 Have multiple small meals instead of heavy meals.

4 Have regular sleep habits and avoid stress.

5 Avoid smoking and alcohol if any.

6 Elevate the head end of the bed or use pillows during sleep and rest.

For treatment, you can take a tablet Pan DSR 40 mg (Pantoprazole) or Esomeprazole and Domperidone (Dopamine antagonist) combination before breakfast once a day for two weeks. You should have Syrup Sucral O (Sucralfate and Oxetacaine) or Gelusil (Aluminium hydroxide, Magnesium hydroxide, and Dimethicone ) two teaspoons three times a day for a week. I hope this helps you.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them, and take medicines with their consent.

Thanks and regards.
