This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

What are the benefits of natural remedies for chapped lips? Can almond oil, cucumber, lemon juice, coconut oil, a humidifier, sugar and honey, green tea bags, and olive oil be used as natural remedies for chapped lips? I would like to know a skincare expert's opinion.

Please share your suggestions.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

For chapped lips, the following remedies can be used:

  1. Coconut oil has excellent emollient properties and forms a protective barrier over the lips, preventing further chapping. It can be applied two to three times a day.
  2. Olive oil is another effective option for treating chapped lips, as it helps retain moisture and prevents further damage. It is best used after washing the face or taking a bath.
  3. Rose petals and rose water are also beneficial remedies for chapped lips. They have antioxidant properties and are cosmetically appealing due to their pleasant fragrance. This remedy can be applied three to four times a day.
  4. Lemon juice is rich in vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and is a powerful antioxidant. It plays a crucial role in treating chapped lips and can be used by mixing a few drops with water before application.
  5. Aloe vera is another effective home remedy for chapped lips. It can be applied along with Vaseline for better results.
  6. Vaseline (petroleum jelly) is an inexpensive and highly effective treatment for chapped lips. It provides a protective barrier, retains moisture, and prevents further dryness.
  7. Almond oil and shea butter are both excellent options for treating chapped lips, as they provide deep hydration and nourishment.
  8. Honey has multiple skincare benefits, including wound healing, anti-inflammatory properties, and excellent hydration and moisture retention. It is highly effective for treating chapped lips and can be applied twice a day.
  9. Green tea bags can also be used, as their natural antioxidants help improve chapped lips and promote healing.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
