I am a fitness trainer and spend a significant amount of time in the gym, frequently using shared equipment, steam rooms, and saunas. Recently, I have been hearing reports about Candida auris being difficult to eliminate and spreading in healthcare settings, particularly hospitals.

I would like to know if Candida auris could also be present in gyms or other public environments. I occasionally experience athlete’s foot or skin rashes, and I am concerned about how to differentiate a common fungal infection from something potentially more serious.

Additionally, I would appreciate guidance on whether I should be taking any specific precautions to better protect myself and my clients from possible exposure to resistant fungi or other infections in shared fitness facilities. Please help.
