What is the treatment for acute pancreatitis?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been experiencing a burning sensation after urinating and ejaculating. There is no pain while urinating; it is only for a few moments. Afterward, I went to a urologist, and my urine was clear; he gave me antibiotics, but I was almost finished, and I am still experiencing the symptoms. He said it sounded like urethritis. Is there anything else this could be? I had a previous history of epididymitis and got treated. Currently, I am taking Lexapro. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. This seems to be prostatitis rather than urethritis. It is an inflammation of the prostate which causes symptoms like pain after urine, complete emptying of the bladder, and frequency. It would be best if a semen culture is done. I suggest you to take tablet Ciprofloxacin 500 mg twice daily for two weeks, tablet Tamsulosin 0.4 mg at night for four weeks, and tablet Celecoxib 200 mg twice daily for four weeks

    Kind regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have taken the Ciprofloxacin twice a day before the Doxycycline, and it persisted. Is it possible that I am experiencing this due to my medication Lexapro? Is it possible that this will go away on its own?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Alright, prostate antibiotics should be given in the long term, like two to six weeks. After that, antibiotics can be withdrawn, and after a week, a semen culture is advisable if you still have symptoms. Lexapro (Escitalopram) will not cause dysuria.

Kind regards.
