Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
The bruise on the face of my child has not healed yet. Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern.
Kindly answer the following questions.
A bruise is because of the rupture of tiny blood vessels in superficial skin and subcutaneous tissue.
To treat the bruise ice pack is applied for ten minutes to reduce pain and swelling. A slight warm compress application also helps in improving circulation to that area. The use of aloe vera cream or topical Vitamin C get is also beneficial. Keep the face in an elevated position while sleeping.
To rule out bleeding disorder, platelet count, prothrombin time, activated partial thromboplastin clotting time, and bleeding time can be done. I would suggest consulting a dermatologist in person for a physical examination and getting a prescription for the medicine.

Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thank you for your reply.
No investigation was done at the time of the injury, and no fracture as no treatment was advised at that time. Applied corticosteroid cream as advised by the doctor, but they were of no use.
Is there a specific term for this type of injury?
Hello,
Welcome back to the icliniq.com.
Suppose the pain and swelling from the trauma are more than the local part, then an X-ray advisable. This lesion seems to be because of the extravasation of blood into underlying tissue. It is called as bruise or ecchymosis. As the bruise has not resolved after six months of the injury, bleeding disorders like hemophilia cannot be ruled out. For that, coagulation and bleeding profile should be checked as advised early.

Patient's Query
Thank you for your reply, doctor.
Are these all blood tests? Is the bruising from the underlying bone that an X-ray is needed? Should I consult a specialist like a hematologist or anyone else? Kindly suggest.
Hello,
Welcome back to the icliniq.com.
The bleeding and coagulation test are done from the blood. Bleeding time is done by a capillary prick. I would suggest consulting a hematologist for examination and medicines.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
