What do symptoms like left-hand pain, breathlessness, and chest pain indicate?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from left-hand pain for the past year, breathlessness for the past four weeks, and chest pain for about two weeks, having severe pain in my left arm. My complete blood count showed my mean corpuscular volume. He meant corpuscular hemoglobin concentration was low, my red blood cell distribution width coefficient of variation was 16.9, and my D-dimer plasma level was 598. My thyroid level is 13.28. The doctor has prescribed me medicines for thyroid and iron tablets such as Feroz and Levothyroxine for thyroid. But still, my breathlessness continues. I do not have asthma; the electrocardiogram and echocardiogram screening were also normal. What could be the reason for my pain?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

Your electrocardiogram and echocardiogram reports are normal, as you mentioned in the history. You can rule out any obstructive or restrictive lung disease by a pulmonary function test like spirometry. Anemia that is moderate to a severe degree also can lead to breathlessness, so it must be treated with iron medication or injection as needed. Excess anxiety can lead to panic attacks so dyspnea can occur. So if the anxiety history is present, they can be consulted with a psychiatrist. According to the cause and specific treatment was given. Your neurological examination should be done on the arm pain.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
