What are the symptoms of borderline personality disorder?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am totally sick. I am always thinking negatively and also want to end my life. I have constant migraines, not feeling well.

I have trust issues and I think I am a victim of trauma. I am unable to love somebody, constantly being a problem to everyone whom I love. I lack concentration in my studies, sometimes I think harming myself will reduce my inner pains.

Please help me.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Thank you for taking help from a psychiatrist. You may have a borderline personality disorder. You may have a chronic feeling of emptiness, emotional outbursts, overwhelming behavior, and self-harming behavior. You mostly feel that no one understands you in this world. You may have difficulty keeping the relationship for a long time. You may have frequent job-related issues. You may have anger outbursts. There is non-pharmacological management for it. I suggest you follow the below guidelines for it.

  1. Do exercises daily for 30 - 45 minutes like at least going for a walk.
  2. Do meditation for 20 minutes daily, just sit in one place in a comfortable position and try to concentrate on your normal breathing, don't stop or force yourself to stop your thoughts, just let it be. This will help you to increase your concentration as well as reduces headache.
  3. Eat healthy home-cooked foods, and avoid junk foods.
  4. Spend quality time with friends and family daily or do video calls if you are living away from your family.
  5. Spend time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills or language or musical instruments.
  6. Take enough seven to eight hours of sleep daily.
  7. Avoid tobacco or alcohol or any substance abuse.

Live your life, do not just spend it. Be bold and confident.

I hope that you get your answer.

Thank you.
