I have my wife's blood test report. We fear that she might have blood cancer. For the last four months, she has been having joint pain, sudden breath difficulty, hand pain, and chest pain.

As per the report, the only apparent problem is that she has mild anemia, microcytic hypochromic anemia (attachment removed to protect patient identity). Usually common in young females. Otherwise, platelets and white blood cells are normal.
- Does she have any other symptoms, like fever or bleeding?
- Also, why are you thinking of cancer?
To be sure, you can repeat complete blood counts with a peripheral smear. If needed, serum iron studies can be done to confirm iron deficiency anemia.

Thank you for the reply.
It is really a savior for us and a great relief. No, she does not have a fever or bleeding. And we suspected cancer because the right corner of the report says that the WBC flag- Immature cells. That triggered in us the fear of cancer and also the LIC percent, which shows a high 15.4 percent for the range of 0.0 to 25.

I would advise you to do a peripheral smear. These are automated counter reports and are not reliable for the morphology of cells. A peripheral smear would help to see whether there are any actual immature cells.
