Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I took Amlopidine 5 mg (milligrams) and continued it till the next day. I experienced numbness in my fingers due to the medication, but the doctors dismissed it as anxiety. I have a prescription for Linsonpril-HCTZ 12.5 mg, which I received when I visited the ER for high blood pressure. My primary care doctor suggested to try something similar but at half the dosage. My question is, can I take half of the Lisinopril-HCTZ 12.5 mg? Is a three-day duration sufficient for switching medications? Currently, my blood pressure measures 134/100 mm of Hg. I consistently have high blood pressure due to white coat syndrome. Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.
Amlodipine has not been effective in controlling your blood pressure. Lisinopril with HCTZ (Hydrochlorothiazide) is a potent combination of two drugs that control blood pressure. The drug takes approximately five to seven days to manifest its effect on blood pressure. A once-daily dosage is typically sufficient. I suggest you take the 12.5 mg dose without cutting it in half and monitor your blood pressure after one week.
I hope this helps. Please revert in case of further queries.
Thank you.
