Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My fiance and I have the same blood group, which is AB-positive. Will it be a problem for me to conceive in the future?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern.
You and your fiance have the same blood group. Such a couple can marry and conceive and can produce a normal child. So as far as same-blood group couples are concerned, do not worry about that. The same blood group leads to no problem. If your fiance's blood group was negative then during the first pregnancy anti-D Rh immunoglobulin is needed, but here no such issue. So do not worry about the same blood group. Check your husband's and your thalassemia minor status before marriage that is important. For that sample is needed in an EDTA (ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid) vacuette and sent to a laboratory for HPLC (high-performance liquid chromatography) testing.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you for consulting me.
