This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Do we need to do open-heart surgery to remove the block? And I already know about angioplasty, and some people suggest open-heart surgery. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for the query and description of your problem. This particular angiogram (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity) shows the left main disease. That is the feeder vessel to all the left-sided blood vessels of the heart. A few years back, the safest option was bypass surgery for this sort of blockage, but now angioplasty and stenting can be safely done with improved techniques.

I hope this helps.

Please revert so I can assist you further.

Thank you.
