How does hydration affect bloating and vaginal health?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 36-year-old female, weighing 112.44 pounds and height of 5 feet 3.78 inches. Currently, I am experiencing bloating in my stomach along with a burning sensation in my vagina. These symptoms have recurred despite being successfully treated a year ago. The previous treatment provided significant relief, with symptoms alleviated by 90 percent after a 14-day course of medication. Attached is a slip detailing my current medication. Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Please respond to the below questions:

  1. Are you experiencing any vaginal discharge?

  2. Do you have any urinary issues such as frequency, dysuria ( painful or difficult urination), or urgency? Are you diabetic?

Based on your symptoms and reports (attachments removed to protect patient identity), it appears to be a UTI (urinary tract infection). Request your doctor to prescribe a single 3 g sachet of Fosfomycin (antibiotic) to be taken today with water. Please note that it may lead to loose stools in the evening or the following morning. Ensure adequate hydration. If you experience burning during urination, try consuming lemon juice. For concerns regarding vaginal discharge, it is advisable to seek consultation with a gynecologist.

P.S. Bloating might be attributed to hyperacidity.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

I have been experiencing white discharge and a burning sensation for the past seven to ten days. I do not have diabetes.

Thank you.

Hello doctor,

It is been 90 days since my last period, and I am fairly certain I am not pregnant. I have had a history of irregular periods. Recently, I relocated from my home. Additionally, I have experienced some weight loss.

Kindly help.

Thank you.
