Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have had a mark on my back for the past seven months. I also have a dark spot under my toenail. I have read online that it could be a sign of skin cancer. I can send photos if required. Please help.
Thank you.

Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thanks for the reply.
I have uploaded two photos. I also have dark patches on my scalp that I can not take a photo of. I am in the Western part of the world, and it takes a lot to see a general practitioner. Hence, I am seeking professional advice.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I have studied the pictures,(attachments removed to protect patient privacy) and it does not appear to be related to cancer. It appears to be a fungal infection of the toenail. Do you have any other symptoms like itching, peeling of the skin, etc.? Have you used any medications? The picture of the back is taken very close. A picture taken from a distance, which shows surrounding normal areas of skin may help in further evaluation. The pictures of the scalp will also help in further evaluation.
I hope this information will help you.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thanks for the reply.
I do not have an itch on the toe, but it goes red when I wear shoes. I have uploaded the pictures that you requested, and this mark appeared after a holiday. I am trying to remember if the mark was itchy or not. I also have one on my lower back and have sent a photo of that as well. I have taken a photo of the lump on my head but they are the same color as my skin.
Thank you.
Hi,
Glad to have you back!
I am here to help you get the best medical advice.
Skin cancers are more common in the exposed parts of the body. They are usually painless and symptomless in the initial stages. But slowly, they can develop into itchy, painful spots, non-healing sores, crusts, bleeding, red, rough, scaly lesions, etc. Please observe for any of the symptoms mentioned above. As of now, they appear to be nonspecific skin lesions. These lesions are not related to the toe fungal infection. Apply a few drops of coconut oil to the toenails daily so that fungal infection is prevented.
Thank you.
