Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am on Microlite birth control, and I took my pill at 8:30 PM. That night, at 12:30 AM. Four hours after taking my pill, I vomited four times. Is this a missed pill, or am I still protected from pregnancy? The vomiting stopped at 7 AM. I had sex two days later, I am on the last week of my birth control pack.
Please advise.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I went through your query and understand your concern.
I would like to assure you that this is not a case of a missed pill, as you vomited four hours after taking the medication. This is primarily due to a side effect of the hormone preparation, which will go away after a few days. If you have taken the pack consistently until the last week, your chances of pregnancy are nil. Because you had intercourse two days after taking the pill, which was followed by vomiting four hours later, there is no chance of pregnancy and no reason to take another pill after that. When used regularly, the hormonal contraceptives Microlite (Ethinyloestradiol 20 mcg and Levonorgestrel 100 mcg) has a nearly 99.9 % success rate.
Kindly revert if you have further queries or questions.
Thank you.
