Should I worry about my low hCG level after conceiving via donor egg IVF?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am two weeks pregnant. I underwent treatment for conceiving, I used donor egg IVF (in vitro fertilization) treatment. Currently my hCG level is low as informed by my doctor, and I have been advised to get another blood test done. Currently I am taking Progesterone, Aspirin, Folic Acid, Estradiol, Vitamin D, and Relvar Inhaler. Could you please assist me with my condition, and suggest me accordingly?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

Thanks for trusting us with your health. I have gone through your history and understand your concerns.

As per your description, these symptoms can be due to hormonal imbalance due to pregnancy. When undergoing pelvic ultrasound, endometrial thickness and fetal heartbeat are more important, and you need not worry about your blood beta hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) levels. I would suggest you get your thyroid profile and hemoglobin test done.

I hope you find this helpful; feel free to ask for more information.

Good luck.

Thank you and Regards.
