Patient's Query
Hello doctor.
I have a sudden, strong need to urinate, especially at night, and I experience pain in my legs and pelvic region. As I am in my late 40s, I am also facing difficulties with my sexual activity, such as delays in achieving an erection. This issue is affecting my married life. I would like to know how to treat this and improve my quality of life in the future. I want to get rid of the pain, which is affecting my daily life, making it difficult for me to travel or stay outside my home. Could this issue with my prostate gland lead to prostate cancer, or are these symptoms indicative of cancer? What tests should be done to diagnose and treat this condition?
Kindly suggest.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understood your concern.
To rule out benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate), or prostate cancer, the following considerations and tests are recommended. These conditions are common in men in their 40s and can cause symptoms such as:
Frequent and urgent urination, especially at night.
Difficulty starting or maintaining urination.
Pelvic pain.
Erectile dysfunction or difficulty with sexual performance.
I suggest to undergo the following tests:
Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test.
Digital rectal examination (DRE).
Ultrasound or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the prostate.
Urine flow test.
Cystoscopy.
Suggested treatment options:
Medications for BPH:
Alpha-blockers.
5-alpha reductase inhibitors.
Lifestyle modifications:
Limit fluid intake at night to reduce nighttime urination.
Exercise regularly to improve circulation and reduce prostate inflammation.
Manage stress to improve overall health.
Surgical options: Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) may be recommended if other treatments are not effective.
Consult with a urologist to determine the appropriate diagnostic tests and treatment options for your condition.
Please get back to me with the details, and I will do my best to assist you.
Thank you.
