Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have had a bad odor on my feet for four years. It smells even after I take a shower. I need some remedy. My feet sometimes hurt in the front middle and it was severe when I was in high school. Kindly suggest.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Here are some suggestions to help alleviate your foot odor and discomfort issues:
1. Foot Odor: Wash your feet daily with antibacterial soap and thoroughly dry them, especially between the toes. Apply a foot powder containing antifungal and antibacterial agents to absorb moisture and prevent odor. Wear breathable shoes and socks made of natural fibers like cotton to allow air circulation. Change your socks frequently, especially if your feet sweat a lot. Soak your feet in a mixture of warm water and white vinegar for 20 minutes once or twice a week to help kill bacteria. Consult a doctor or podiatrist if the odor persists, because it could indicate a more serious condition.
2. Foot Odor After Showering: Make sure to use a good-quality shower gel or soap that targets foot odor. Scrub your feet thoroughly during showering, focusing on areas where odor is most prevalent. Rinse your feet with cold water after showering to close the pores and reduce moisture. If the issue persists, consider using an over-the-counter antifungal spray or cream after showering.
3. Foot Pain: Wear well-fitted shoes with proper support and cushioning. Use over-the-counter insoles or orthotics to help distribute pressure evenly across your feet. Stretch your feet regularly, especially before and after engaging in physical activities. Consider massaging your feet with essential oils like lavender or peppermint, which may help alleviate pain and inflammation. If the pain persists or worsens, consult a doctor or podiatrist for further evaluation and treatment. Remember to maintain good foot hygiene and regularly check your feet for any signs of infection or abnormality.
I hope you find this helpful.
Thank you.
