Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I suffer from bad breath. I brush my teeth regularly but cannot get rid of bad breath.
Kindly suggest a treatment.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
Bad breath or halitosis can be caused due to dental and non-dental reasons. Dental reasons include-
1. Accumulation of tartar or calculus on the tooth.
2. Failed tooth fillings or crowns.
3. Multiple teeth decay and impacted wisdom tooth.
The most common cause is calculus. These hard yellow deposits on teeth form over time, causing bad breath. Though we do a proper brushing every day, there are certain spots on teeth where the bristles fail to reach, leading to calculus deposits. A complete scaling and polishing procedure should be done to remove them, after which the bad breath stops.
They should be treated if it occurs due to other reasons like decay or an impacted tooth. Non-dental reasons include gastric ulcers, digestive issues, and throat issues that cause bad breath. Visit your dentist to know what is causing your bad breath and get it treated.
If it is not due to dental reasons, please visit a gastroenterologist. Drink a lot of water and limit your onion and garlic intake. Mouth rinses and tongue cleaning are a must after every meal. Please follow these steps to see an immediate improvement in your condition.
I hope that you get your answer.
Please let me know if you need any help.
Thank you.
